Rehearsal Diary
5 weeks to go...
On the Gold Coast the temperature may be plummeting but Gold Coast Little Theatre is experiencing a heat wave - 'Kiss Me, Kate' is just too darn hot!
Sweating through full day rehearsals the cast have been leaving nothing to chance. Our fearless (albeit ‘man flu’ ridden) director (Andrew CP) has been whipping us into shape and heads are swimming with directions, slap stick cues and Shakespearean-ese. Scene transitions have been the flavour of the week and with efficiency and flourishes worthy of a Las Vegas spectacular audiences won’t be disappointed on opening night. This week the cast rehearsed Kate and Petruchio's wedding banquet - with an empty stomach and the prospect of starvation the question on everyone’s lips is “How many sausages can Kate fit down her dress?”
Roars of laughter have been heard echoing through Southport this week coming from the dance studio as our gangsters (Terri Woodfine and Nicola Barrett) have been brushing up on their Shakespeare and choreography. We are not sure what they have been up to in there but the cleaners can never find their mops?! Fred (Simon Stone) and Lilli (Naomi Mole) have been taking it a bit slower rehearsing a heart warming waltz and after a few arguments Lilli has graciously decided to let Fred lead 😉 Limbs are now being stretched and warmed up in anticipation for a mammoth choreography session this weekend. (Any masseurs out there wishing to donate their time to ease our pain the following day will be worshipped like gods!)
Lights, camera, action! Have you seen our first interview video released this week? Check it out and get to know some of the eccentric personalities that make up our 'Kiss Me, Kate' family. There will be more to follow so stay tuned. Preparations are also in place for our upcoming publicity photo shoot. With costumes, wigs and characters at the ready be sure to keep an eye out for promo shots coming your way very soon!
If you have not already bought your tickets make sure to get in soon - don’t forget! “The doctors call it ‘Magnesia’. We cure it!
